My brother very kindly offered to take us all on our first family holiday since 1998 (!) while our parents were in Singapore visiting.
We decided upon Phnom Penh for a number of reasons... mainly because it was the only place my parents could get to on short notice with their Krisflyer points!
We left Friday lunchtime and headed for the much raved about Plantation Hotel, which was a lovely oasis in the middle of a busy city.
We actually didn't do much sightseeing in Phnom Penh. Our itinerary was perfect for a weekend break, involving lots of relaxing, eating and spending time together. When we landed we headed straight to The Sugar Palm for lunch. The food was delicious - the fish amok is a must try!
This is where you'll find out how much work actually goes into making fish amok. So much cutting, slicing and pounding all by hand, to bring out the best flavours.
The trip wouldn't have been complete without a trip to Romdeng... although we didn't try the tarantulas, I seem to have consumed enough beer to forget how utterly terrified of creepy crawlies I am.
On the last night we dined at Malis, which was spectacular although sadly no pictures (very bad lighting!) take mosquito spray and sit outside if you go!
